Key Lock Box System

The Rapid Entry System is required on all Commercial or Industrial structures protected by an automatic fire alarm system or automatic suppression system, or such structures that are secured in a manner that restricts access by the Cicero Fire Department during an emergency.  Approved lock box containers shall be installed and shall contain keys to gain access in the location that is designated by the Fire Department.  The Fire Chief shall be authorized to implement rules and regulations for the use of the lock box system.

What is The Rapid Entry System?
The SupraSafe Rapid Entry System from GE Infrastructure gives fire departments officials instant access to buildings and eliminates the need for cumbersome, awkward key rings that often hold hundreds of building keys.  With SupraSafe, fire departments and businesses can work together to prevent expensive forcible entry should emergency services be required while the premises are unoccupied and to preserve lives and property.

Who Orders and Installs the Lock Box?
The Building Owner or Contractor will complete the Rapid Entry Key Box Order Form and purchase from several models available.  Each Lock Box is shipped with complete mounting instructions; however, the Cicero Fire Department will assist you in choosing a proper location for mounting.  It is highly recommended that Lock Boxes are mounted no higher than 5 feet from the ground and near the main entrance.  After installation is completed, complete the Online Communications Form to conduct an inspection of the installation and lock box building keys.  As soon as building keys are locked inside the box, it is ready to provide immediate access to emergency personnel.

How does the Lock Box Work?
All necessary access keys will be locked inside by a representative of the fire department (only the fire department's master key can open this box).  Additional items can be stored, such as electronic entry cards, emergency contact names and numbers.

How Secure is The Rapid Entry System?
UL-Listed SupraSafe locks are virtually impossible to pick.  Because SupraSafe keys are only made by GE and only when you order them, you have control over duplicate keys.  SupraSafe has a tough steel construction and a locking system designed to withstand attack.
