Signal 80 - Route 31 / Sandra Ave

On the morning of Tuesday July 1, 2008 at 0940 hours the Cicero Fire Department was activated for a reported Signal 80 (Car Accident) at the corner of Route 31 / Sandra Ave. The Onondaga County 911 Center received several calls reporting there were two vehicles involved and two people injured.

Cicero Car (Barrett) was the first arriving fire unit (Four Minutes) and reported to the Onondaga County 911 Center that there were three patients that had to be transported and requested another ambulance and that minor extrication would be required.

Cicero Engine # 3 (Firefighter Ostrander) was the second arriving fire unit and the crew began patient care and deployed a hand line for vehicle hazards.

Rescue # 1 (Lieutenant Hunter) was the third arriving fire unit and the crew assisted Engine # 3 with vehicle stabilization and patient care.

North Syracuse Engine # 4 (Captain Strong) was available on the air (Training) and responded to assist the Cicero Fire units, their crew assisted with vehicle hazards and packaging of the patients.

NAVAC Ambulance transported three patients (1) "ALS" Advanced Life Support and (2) "BLS" Basic Life Support. The Cicero Police Department was on-scene conducting their investigation.

The stretch of Route 31 between Sandra Ave and Doreen Ave was closed by the Cicero Fire Police (Captain Dristle / Firefighter Henderson) for a short time.
